The Nutcracker

We invite you to the Christmas tale of The Nutcracker at the Raganiukė Theater! The Nutcracker is a performance of movement, dancing and acting created more than a hundred years ago. One of the most popular and beloved ballets in the world, The Nutcracker is a beautiful Christmas tale full of miracles that bring joy during the holiday season. In a small German town on Christmas Eve, a young girl, Masha (short for Marija, originally Klara), receives a strange doll – an ugly Nutcracker – as a gift from her godfather, old Drosselmeier. After the guests leave and the clock strikes midnight, Masha finds herself in a magical world where toys come to life and has to contend with hordes of gray mice. The Mouse King, who leads them, loses to the Nutcracker, and he turns into a handsome young man, the Prince. Together with Masha, they travel through fairy-tale lands… In the morning, Masha wakes up from a dream with a doll in her arms (this epilogue was later added in 20th-century productions).
